Eugenia Dennis Jarrett is interviewed by Edward Clark Smith on March 3, 1987 as a part of the Western North Carolina Tomorrow Black Oral History Project. Born in 1896, Jarrettgraduated from Samuel Houston College and was nominated to come from Austin, Texas to work at Nacoochee Institute in Rabun, Georgia, where she stayed for 27 years. She then moved to Asheville and worked as a practical nurse. She has been active in organizations that strive to better the lives of African Americans, and she talks about how relationships between black and white people have changed for the better. She finishes the interview by reciting a few poems she wrote.
